As John Lennon once said "Before Cliff Richard and The Shadows there had been nothing worth listening to in British Music". The British might have needed the inspiration from the birth of rock 'n' roll in America and artists such as Elvis Presley, James Brown and Little Richard but they learned quickly and developed a uniquely British sound which in turn become the inspiration for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and many others. By the mid-60's the British music scene was the envy of the world and these musicians were the catalyst.
